From Fear to Fascination: How PSYCH-K® Transformed My Snake Phobia into Wonder

Cleo and I

Sometimes life presents us with the most unexpected opportunities to witness our own transformation. Today was one of those magical moments, and I'm still buzzing with amazement at what unfolded at our local pub festival.

Picture this: a sunny bank holiday afternoon, six bands playing from noon till 8pm, the smell of BBQ filling the air, children's laughter echoing from the bouncy castle, and me... approaching a stand called 'Stevie's Scales' with genuine curiosity instead of my usual reptile-induced anxiety.

You see, my relationship with snakes (and most creepy crawlies, to be honest) has been complicated since childhood. My last face-to-face encounter with a snake was when I was three years old in kindergarten - and let's just say we didn't become friends! Add to that being stung in the mouth by a wasp at age six, and you'll understand why spiders, bees, wasps, and anything that slithers or buzzes has been on my 'avoid at all costs' list for decades.

But here's the thing about PSYCH-K® and hypnotherapy - they don't just change your thoughts, they transform your entire relationship with the world around you.

As I watched this young man handling a small corn snake with such ease and respect, I felt something I hadn't expected: genuine interest instead of fear. When he asked if I'd like to hold it, the word "yes" came out of my mouth before my old programming could kick in!

My first experience holding a corn snake!

Holding that first snake was completely okay - more than okay, it was fascinating! But then I saw her. Cleo, the magnificent white boa constrictor, and I was absolutely mesmerised.

"She's a rescue," Stevie explained, "Her previous owner had been overfeeding her, so now she's on a strict diet to lose weight." Yes, even snakes can have weight management issues - who knew!

When Stevie asked if I wanted Cleo around my neck, I didn't hesitate. "Yes!" I said, and I was genuinely excited about it. At 19kg, she was quite heavy, and as she moved around my neck I could feel the strength of her muscles and her elemental presence after a few minutes, and the experience was absolutely incredible.

Not a feather(light) boa!!

What struck me most was not only the absence of fear - it was the presence of genuine admiration and curiosity. I found myself fascinated by Cleo, asking questions, wanting to understand more about snake's like Cleo's behaviour and needs. This wasn't just tolerance; this was transformation.

This is the real magic of working on our subconscious beliefs. When we're no longer held prisoner by fear, we become enlightened by curiosity. When limiting beliefs are released, there's space for wonder to enter.

I use PSYCH-K® in all areas of my life, addressing any limitation I come across. Whether it's fear of public speaking, anxiety about health challenges, or spider and snake phobias. Today proved profoundly that the work I've done on these fears in the past has genuinely transformed my experience.

Now, let me be clear - if I encountered a snake in the wild, I'd certainly be cautious and wouldn't seek to interact with it. Healthy respect and self-preservation instincts are important for survival! But in a safe, controlled environment with an expert like Stevie, I was free to experience these amazing creatures without the limitations of old fears.

This is what I help my clients achieve too - not the absence of all caution or discernment, but freedom from the limiting beliefs that keep us from fully experiencing life. It's about replacing paralysing fear with empowered choice.

As I drove home today, I couldn't stop smiling. Not just because I'd had such an unexpectedly wonderful experience, but because it reminded me so powerfully of why I do this work. Every day, I witness clients breaking free from beliefs that have held them captive for years - fear of failure, unworthiness, health anxiety, relationship patterns that no longer serve them.

Just like my surprise snake encounter showed me, we often don't realise how much our old programming is limiting us until we're suddenly free from it. That moment when fear transforms into fascination, when anxiety becomes excitement, when "I can't" becomes "Why not?" - these are the moments that make this work so incredibly rewarding.

Whether it's through PSYCH-K®, life coaching, or hypnotherapy, the tools exist to help you rewrite the stories that are keeping you small. Your subconscious mind is incredibly powerful, and when we align it with what you truly want to experience, life becomes an adventure instead of something to survive.

What I love most about today's experience is how it connects to everything else I've been sharing about living authentically and following your passion. When we're not constrained by old fears and limitations, we're free to explore, to be curious, to say "yes" to experiences that might surprise and delight us.

From finally allowing myself to stay at an after-party until 3am in Germany, to confidently holding a 19kg boa constrictor called Cleo at a pub festival - these moments of freedom are priceless. They remind me that I'm not a fixed entity; as humans we're constantly evolving, growing, and capable of surprising ourselves in the most wonderful ways.

Are you ready to discover what fears or limiting beliefs might be keeping you from your own moments of wonder? Whether you're dealing with specific phobias, health challenges, or simply feeling stuck in old patterns, transformation is possible.
