Have you ever dreamed of writing a book but thought it was an impossible feat? Well, let me tell you a story that might just change your mind and inspire you to chase your dreams!
It all started with a 7-day book writing challenge. The goal? To write and publish a book without spending a penny. Initially, I was stumped for a topic. That's when my dear friend Claudia suggested that I should share my personal story of reversing Type 2 Diabetes using Jessie Inchauspé's book 'Glucose Revolution' and how I implemented her life-changing hacks.
I immediately liked the topic, as I love to share ideas and insights on how one can improve one's health, so now with a topic in hand, I dove headfirst into the challenge. After outlining the book, I spent three intense days writing, pouring my heart and experiences onto the pages. What started as a goal for a 5,000-word book soon blossomed into a 20,000-word manuscript! To add those final polishing touches, I also enlisted a little help from AI, marrying my own narrative with cutting-edge technology to eradicate mistakes and check the flow of the content.
Of course, this journey wasn't a complete solo endeavor. I was fortunate to have an incredible support system that played a crucial role in bringing 'Glucose Wisdom' to life. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to Maggie, whose meticulous proofreading skills ensured that my message came across clearly and accurately. Claudia's artistic touch elevated my cover design, perfectly capturing the essence of the book. Tatiana's scientific expertise was invaluable in fact-checking and ensuring the accuracy of the information presented. And David, my rock throughout this process, provided unwavering support, feedback, and encouragement. Each of these wonderful individuals contributed their unique talents and support, helping to shape 'Glucose Wisdom' into the book it is today. Their belief in me and this project was a great source of motivation, reminding me of the power of collaboration and friendship in achieving our dreams.
The process of self-publishing was a learning curve, but oh, what an exhilarating one! I published 'Glucose Wisdom' as a paperback as well as a Kindle edition, and seeing those first royalties trickle in was a moment of pure joy. However, receiving my first author copies was truly a moment of feeling a deep sense of accomplishment, and I did feel proud to hold my first published book in my hands!
However, this journey wasn't just about creating 'Glucose Wisdom' - it was also a fundamental stepping stone towards publishing my actual first book about my breast cancer experience and how I overcame it by combining traditional medicine with holistic approaches. You may have seen it advertised on my website, and now the days of publishing it are finally coming closer!
Now, as I work on translating 'Glucose Wisdom' into other languages to reach a wider audience, I'm also editing my breast cancer book, aiming to publish it before the end of the year. It's a whirlwind of activity, but one that fills me with purpose and excitement.
The response to 'Glucose Wisdom' has been nothing short of amazing. Feedback from readers has warmed my heart, especially when two of my friends sent me a picture of themselves with the copies they bought:
Rarely have I felt more happy, proud, and loved than when I saw these pictures, and I loved how my friends made me so very happy!!! Thank you so much, Donna and Fernando!!
Two other moments also stand out as truly magical. Picture this: I'm standing in a queue, chatting with a total stranger about my book. The topic of diabetes, weight loss, and healthy living resonated so much with him that he handed me £10 on the spot to buy a copy! It was a surreal moment that affirmed the universal appeal of the book's message.
But the cherry on top? It happened when I was at an event and showing a friend my Amazon listing. There, under the title, were five little yellow stars - my first review, and a 5-star one at that! I couldn't contain my excitement, jumping up and down like a child in the public restroom, much to the amusement of other ladies present. A huge thank you to Maria Leon for that review - you created a moment I'll cherish forever! Plus, I sold another copy of my book at that event - that truly is an amazing moment every time, to sell a copy in person!
As I look to the future, I'm filled with anticipation. While my mum is already correcting and proofreading the Finnish version, I am doing the same with the German version and preparing the Spanish and Polish translations, as I have amazing friends who have offered to correct and proofread those versions. Creating audiobooks for both English and German versions is also on the horizon. My deepest hope is simply that 'Glucose Wisdom' will continue to help and inspire people on their health journeys around the world.
If you or someone you know is grappling with Type 2 Diabetes, or if you're simply looking to adopt a healthier lifestyle and drop weight effortlessly, I invite you to check out 'Glucose Wisdom'. It's packed with useful information and practical strategies to support you on your path to better health.
